Recently I was troubleshooting an NSX issue in my lab and was having difficulty getting the service details finally, I managed to get all the services running on NSX.
So I thought to list it in my blog for the wider community.
Service Name | Description |
nsx-cluster-boot-manager | This service is responsible for bootstrapping and managing the NSX Manager cluster. It handles the cluster nodes' initialization, startup, and maintenance, ensuring they are properly configured and synchronized. |
proton | The proton service is integral to NSX-T Data Center, functioning as the control plane for networking and security services. It is responsible for processing and managing the configuration and state of various NSX components, such as logical switches, routers, and distributed firewalls. |
nsx-ccp | NSX Central Control Plane (nsx-ccp) service is crucial for managing the central control operations within NSX-T. It handles the distribution and management of control plane activities across the NSX Manager cluster, ensuring consistency and synchronization across different nodes. |
cm-inventory | The cm-inventory service manages and maintains the inventory of objects within the NSX environment. This includes tracking and managing information about the virtual and physical network entities, such as VMs, hosts, switches, and routers, that are part of the NSX infrastructure. |
phonehome-coordinator | The phone-home-coordinator service collects and sends telemetry data from the NSX environment back to VMware. This data is typically used for support purposes, allowing VMware to provide proactive support and issue resolution by analyzing the collected information. |
upgrade-coordinator | The upgrade-coordinator service handles the orchestration of NSX upgrades. It coordinates the upgrade process across the NSX Manager cluster, ensuring that all components are upgraded in the correct sequence, with minimal disruption to network services. |
