Recently, I was performing the VCF upgrade from 4.5 to 4.5.1, which was running on top of VxRail, and during the VxRail manager upgrade the upgrade failed after 8 1/2 hours, the upgrade failed while performing the BIOS upgrade for the last couple of hosts.
As you may already know that as a pre-requisite you need to download the required bundles either by online or offline way before starting the upgrade.
Took the SDDC manager VM and VxRail manager VM snapshot from vCenter and started the VxRail manager (which has 10 ESXi hosts in the VI workload domain) upgrade one of the ESXi which was in the not responding state for more than 2 hours, which was bit suspicious.
So decided to log in to the iDRAC to check the status from the console and in the console could see the below failed BIOS upgrade error:
Then, later I checked the intel(s) TXT setting for the other ESXi hosts whose upgrade was successful and noticed that the TXT setting was enabled and the host which failed the host upgrade had the TXT setting disabled.
There are two ways to enable the TXT setting from iDRAC for the host which I have mentioned below you can follow either of the options:
Procedure 1:
As you can see the option from the above screenshot press F2 to enter the System Setup (BIOS) screen, where you see the System Setup option then --> Click System Security --> then under TPM enable TXT.
Or
Procedure 2:
Login to iDRAC --> Click on Configuration --> Click on BIOS Setting --> Click on System Security --> Scroll Down to TPM and under TPM drop down select On and click Apply.

Post the changes booted the ESXi again and did a retry of the upgrade from the SDDC manager this time the BIOS upgrade was successful and went ahead with the ESXi upgrade later the VxRail manager upgrade was successfully completed.
